for where you've come from.
for where you are now.
for where you are going.

I am a trauma-informed counselor who works with what helped me in my own journey: at the intersection of compassion and choice. I help people understand their stories in ways that lead to real, lasting change.
My work is grounded in narrative (story) work and embodied emotional healing. I specialize in holding tensions that are often kept apart: hope and present reality, kindness and truth, understanding and change.
I work from an integrative framework centered in nervous system awareness, emotional attunement, and attachment repair to bring healing to past hurt that limits present relationships and agency to future choices. My approach honors spirituality as lived experience rather than doctrine, and meaning as something discovered and pursued through story, embodiment, and choice. We work with what brings safety, clarity, and movement toward healing — and release what no longer does.
My clinical formation brings together narrative, attachment-based, and embodied approaches to healing, with training that supports both depth and practical change.
Training & Certifications
Read your story.
Apply what you discover.
Choose the future you desire.
Whole Story Counseling uses a narrative processing approach that encourages you to become your own storyteller in pursuit of wholeness.
That wholeness is characterized by the intersection of our past, present, and future story.
We seek to join you as you begin to uncover and reconnect the whole story of who you are: where you have come from, where you are now, and where you are going.

To assist our story journey, we apply the principles of Whole Story Living. This is my theory of story work. These principles are the intersection of theology and psychology, of theory and practice, and of past and future because they guide intentional choices lived out in real time in the real world.
Whole Story Living is:
Pursuing the Whole-istic Desire for Goodness and Connection.
Check out the Blog Page for the Whole Story Living Series to learn more about these principles.

We don't want to just talk about Story Work - we want to do Story Work!
Let's learn to live a life pursuing the whole story of who we were created to be. We heal to bring healing to the world.

We are a complex system of stories
that have formed desires, beliefs, and patterns of behavior.
We learned these stories very young and very well.
Understanding these overlapping stories and how they self-protect against new ways of being and behavior is the key to understanding ourselves and finding space to imagine new stories, new responses to old stories, and counteract the stress and anxiety of the internal identity struggle within our hearts, minds, and body.
We are freed to pursue our true desires for goodness and connection.

You have made it this far.
You are both wounded and resilient.
We honor those less healthy ways of functioning for how they protected you in the past AND release them to create space for new responses to today's reality with healthier ways of living.
You begin to imagine new choices for your future because your desires are being set free from harm in the present moment.
You are pursuing wholeness by reconnecting exiled pieces of yourself
and finding that your desire for goodness and connection is growing.

The good news is that new ways are possible.
Change is possible.
With practice, the brain forms new pathways,
the body learns new patterns, and together,
they support new ways of responding to the stresses of life.
Courage will inspire you to take these new ways into your
future relationships, work, and your own continuing story.
Goodness and connection are becoming friends and allies on our journey to the future, freed from the marring of the past.
Dr. Jennifer Harris
Since you will (hopefully!) choose to share your story with me, it's only right that I share some of my story with you. Since I love to communicate, it's a little longer than a "normal" bio on a website might be, so it's a blog post that you can easily find here.
I promise to walk with you in humility, authenticity, and truthfulness.
I promise to listen well and responsively.
I promise to hold your story in confidence.
I promise to honor the time boundaries we set in advance.
I promise to never push you where you choose not to go.
I promise that I will probably get it wrong at some point.
When that happens, I promise that I will name it and seek to repair the rupture.
I promise on the other side will be a new level of connection and story work.
